Zamardi is one of the most accessible resort places on the Southern coast of Lake Balaton, situated halfway between Siófok and Balatonföldvár. The settlement was elevated to the rank of town in 2008. Zamardi is popular for its kilometers long neat free beaches, the exceptionally beautiful panorama on the Tihany peninsula, the manifold programs and the tourist roads crossing many gorgeous landscapes. In addition to all this, the town of Zamardi provides a broad range of free of charge services to the visitors: free use of the beaches, free parking for buses and cars, free of charge beach lifeguard and medical services on duty.
Zamardi is an ever-growing settlement of increasing touristic importance at Lake Balaton. Since 2006 it hosts the annual “Balaton Sound” – one of the biggest music festival in Hungary – which is very popular among the visiting youngsters. In addition to this the town is the venue of several cultural events and programs: Zamardi Days, Street Musicians’ Festival, etc.
Zamardi is considered to be a favoured holiday paradise for families especially with young children, since the water of the lake is shallow and of pleasant temperature. Every age group can find the appropriate relaxation.
As far as the climate of Zamardi is concerned, it is one of the sunniest parts of Lake Balaton. The number of the annual sunny hours exceeds 2 000 hours, thus providing sufficient sunshine in the summer months. The frequent motion of air gives the pleasant feeling even on the hottest days, making sailing and surfing possible.
